I forgot to answer one of your questions. I have not been to Louisville. I've been looking at it, but I'm not sure yet if it's fitting in to our trip this time. I thought it would be cool to visit where they train the horses, but the husband didn't sound too thrilled. :)
It sounds like we like a lot of the same places. Are you from a place called New Castle? I actually grew up in a town called New Castle...in Virginia. It's near Roanoke, which I see on one of your trip plans. There are a lot of neat places in Virginia, especially along the Blue Ridge Parkway...and the Skyline Drive. Last year, I booked a night for my parents and niece at Peaks of Otter. I'd been there, but never at night. Just at dusk, the deer come out from everywhere. There are hundreds of them! My little niece and I sat on the porch outside our room and watched a little deer eat just a few feet from us. We had the best time. I think if we had broke out the snacks, he probably would have come in our room. :) Have you been to the New River Gorge Bridge before? It's beautiful in that area, and it's on the way to WV, which is where my husband is from. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are great. I love that area. I'm quite fond of Asheville and that area, too. I think we're adding Bryson City to our trip in August. I want to do the Smoky Mountain Railroad. I'll have to check out your photos. Looks like we've been to a lot of the same places. That reminds me, I need to post my photos, too.
I just found your post on my trip plan...that you are taking a similar trip in August. I notice yours says "Back to..." Sounds like you may have done some of these things already? I will just have to check out your trip plan. :) I sort of just got started on mine. I had a lot more locations in mind, but when I noticed all of the things you can do in Chattanooga, I decided we needed to stay there for at least two days. We're pretty excited about the trip. We flew to Maine last August, toured there and in NH, then drove back, making a stop in Atlantic City. We had such a good time driving that we thought we would do it again. Hope your trip is good!
