This trip was designed by Mentor Travel. It's primary focus is to give graduating seniors with learning differences the ability to experience the road trips that we took for granted as youths and now wish we could relive. With the assistance of a "mentor" , the students traveling will be able to experience the beautiful scenic coast of San Diego, California to Portland, Oregon while making a 2 night camping adventure at the world famous Yosemite National Park.
At all times our traveling students will be accompanied by a "Mentor". This mentor is cerified in First Aid, CPR, and Med Delegation and is also a trained educator of life and social skills to students with learning differences, professional driver, and avid camper and traveler.
This trip will focus on 3 main objectives. The first is the most important for the trips success, FUN!!
The second objective is cultural and social education which will occur daily as we travel through the different communitites, participate in numerous activities, and visit some of the local museums.
The third objective is community service. We will be performing 1 or 2 community service projects while on the road. They could range from beach clean-up to feeding the homeless and will depend on the organizations that we will be volunteering at. Mentor Travel feels that the community service aspect of the trip plays a very important role in the development of our students character and "self" image.
