On offer daily is a colourful salad bar, where guests can choose the elements of their salad and dressing. This is great, but how can I pay for this? Do I pay with dollars or with pounds? Credit cards I am hearing charge an arm and a leg when you use them anywhere outside of the US. Do you accept payment by check? Where can a check in pounds be obtained in the US? I know of two companies here in the states that sell that kind of checks. Travelex and International Currency Express. Although I can purchase my pounds from either of them, I have contacted them from time to time to check on the rates and Travelex seems to be the more expensive of the two. Please advice.

About paying for your trip. For transportation (rail/bus/tube) you can buy an Oyster Card for 1 week ahead of time online with a credit card. Same for the Great British Hertigage Pass. This gives you free admission to most of the historical sites in England and Scotland, and lets you avoid the lines. The hotel can be reserved online as well with a credit card. This just leaves food and impulse buying which you can take pounds or traveller checks for. You can get these at your bank before the trip.
