Any suggestions for places to go on a road trip from Alexandria, VA to New Orleans, LA and back this summer? It is going to be pretty low budget. I want to see a lot of art museums and galleries as well as historic sites. My boyfriend also likes science and sport related sites. I think we may also want to go camping and do some outdoorsy things. We maybe would see a show or two if they are not too expensive. Mostly looking for cool places that are off the beaten path, I already plan to see a few of the more popular tourist sites. I also want some good places to eat, mostly inexpensive but we might go to a few nice restaurants.
