Talk about this trip (1)
This was a really budget friendly, family friendly trip to Hot Springs and the Crater of Diamonds State Park. If you haven't been, try it at least once- especially if you are within driving distance to Hot Springs. Hot Springs is about a 40 minute drive from the Crater of Diamonds Park. There is not a lot to do near the Crater of Diamonds, unless it is warm enough to swim or go boating in the area. We went Spring Break and stayed in Hot Springs so that we had more to see and do. The Crater of Diamonds is perfect for boys who love to dig and be outdoors. To me, the Mom- it was a field of dirt with lots of holes. I had a great time on the trip, but just want to be totally honest about the State Park. Hot Springs is fun, and if you go in the Summer, you can visit the theme park, Magic Mountain. The Embassy Suites is great for families- suite with separate areas for parents and kids, with the pull out bed in the living area. Free Breakfast really saves money and is very good. Also they have a Happy Hour every night with $1.00 alcoholic drinks, free soft drinks and a small snack like pretzels.
