May 31st, 2008 - 516 miles for the first day. Morrill Kansas, we have a great camp site but no one else is here. Samll campground kind of like Rolling Hills but nicer. I made the reservation on the internet. The place has 2 olympic size pools but no water. We are having a beverage and making aplan for tomorrow.
June 1st,2008 437 miles Living the Dream. Eastern Kansas is beautiful. Lots of Rolling Hills, Great Roads, Speed limit on two lanes is 65mph. That's because there's nothing out there but hills and cows. Going to town for these people envolves staying over night I think. We had the road to ourselves most of the time. We met a car or a bike once in a while but if you broke down out there you better hope you can fix it yourself. We rode rt 36 to 9 which was supposed to be senic but was just ok, then we got on I70 to burlinton, Co. Got some supper and a few groceries and headed to Bonny Lake State Reservior. Great campground and once again not crowded maybe only 7 other campers besides us. The lake is low, so low all boat docks and marina are closed. I took some pictures of our camps, check them out.
Wow, Isn't the Internet great? I was able to follow where you have been by your description but need more details on towns routes etc. I figure you will get to the mountains today sometime. It must be really pretty driving to them all day, at least until the sun gets in the west sky. Hopefully the weather will show grace on you but it looks like you are pretty well equipped. Did you bring the dog? Stay out of the ditches and kinda limit the "reach arounds" late in the day! Hugs and kisses!
Hi guys! It's not really Mark......but Nancy......This sounds like soooooo much fun!!!!! I had asked Mark if you were taking the pup & he didn't know, but I thought you would. :) I wish Mark had a rig like yours & we could be w/you. You both are living the dream! Be careful & keep enjoying the beauty & each other. The pics are great, so keep sending them. Mark says "hello" & he is still jealous :)) Nancy :)
June 2, 2008 Pikes Peak today. The mountains are beautiful. We had a good ride over here. Got here around 12:00 went to a place called Crazy Horse and then the Harley Dealer then a place for lunch called Hogan's( entire building was built without nails)Food was great and the people nice they even let Daize come in. Both the bar and resturant let her in but not the Harley Dealer. We are staying at the Lone Duck Campground. They have a pool, breakfast, little store and the people are nice. We have a mountain feed creek about 10 feet behind the camper. When we got here we were very hot so we took our shoes off and put our feet in. Can't take much of that the water is soooo cold! Tomorrow we will ride the Cog Train up Pikes Peak. We will also visit Garden of the Gods. We had talked about riding horses through the park but for a 1 hr ride they want 39 bucks. I don't even like horses. we'll ride the bike. Daize can't ride the train so she is going to stay in her carrier in the camper We made a friend Jack Green and I may ask him to check on her while we are gone. We are very tired to today I feel like we rode 600 mile when really it was only 232 but everyone says its the allitude.
