Directions: Along Hwy #1 at Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, 2 miles south of Big Sur (26 miles south of Carmel). Follow signs to Pfeiffer Falls trailhead in park.

From Carmel, take Highway 1 south for 24 miles to Big Sur and then continue 2 miles to the park entrance on the left. Park at nature center. $8.

From the North:
From the Monterey Peninsula, take Highway One south towards Carmel. We are 26 miles south of Carmel on the right hand side, just past the Big Sur Deli and Post Office.

Situated on the ocean side of Highway One, our property is 29 miles South of Carmel

Our sign, driveway and parking area are directly adjacent to Highway #1. You can't miss us.

Pfeiffer Beach -

Just two-miles north of Nepenthe, with a five minute drive down Sycamore Canyon Road is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Pfeiffer Beach has been photographed by Ansel Adams, and is featured prominently in "The Sand Piper."

To get to Pfeiffer Beach, drive north from Nepenthe on Highway One. After you crest the hill, in about half a mile you will pass Big Sur Center Deli and the US Post Office on your left. In another quarter mile you will go over an unmarked bridge. Just 300 yards later you will see an unmarked, paved road, heading downhill to your left. Take this road two miles to the end and park. There is a short path through cypress trees opening onto the mile long Pfeiffer Beach.

Directions: Along Hwy #1 at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, 13 miles south of Big Sur (37 miles south of Carmel). Follow the Waterfall Overlook Trail. There is a parking fee.

From Carmel, take Highway 1 south for 24 miles to Big Sur and then continue 12.5 miles south to park entrance on the left. The drive-to overlook for best viewpoint of McWay Falls is located a half mile before the park entrance at a pull-out on the right (west, ocean-side) of Highway 1. $8.
