This drive from Central California to La Paz, Mexico has been in the back of my mind for more than 30 years. I'm planning to do this in September of 2009 for two weeks. I would like to average 250-350 miles per day and arrive at overnight stays early. No camping, but local hotels are my preference. I'm looking for a lot of information on where to stop, where to stay, so please post messages.

I've wanted to make this drive since I was in High School. But, then I didn't have a car that would make it, or a girlfriend that would come along. Now, 35 years later - I have the car, and I'm dragging my reluctant wife along. I know that I am planning a trip that is 18 months away, but it will give me plenty of time to brush up my Spanish and figure out where to stop and stay and what to see.
