The best place to eat breakfast in Gatlinburg is the Log Cabin Pancake house on Airport Road (traffic light #8). There is no comparison....their French Toast Royale is out of this world! Try it next time you're here...
Back in 85 i lived in Morristown and worked in Gatlinburg on the ariel Tramway (yes its high but the scenery is out of this world). Any way, I moved back to Ohio in 87 and have been back there a couple of times. I thought I was Gatlinburged out till i read your journal. I forgot how beautiful it really is and definetly havent tried the restaurants you mentioned. My wife and I are going there in March for our 2nd anniversary. Although im not able to walk very far, Im thinking i can Improvised just this time to check out the sites as an actual person there to relax and try things. Thanks again for posting this, it makes my future trip REALLY worth looking forward to. James Barnette.
I have been to Gatlinburg on 2 different occasions, and loved it so very much, that me and my Mother and Sister are planning to return in 2009. we were there on 2003 and 2007, we cannot wait to go back in 2009, just beautiful, we stayed at Country Pines Cabins and will stay there the next trip to!!!!!!
Thanks for sharing your vacation memories, I have been to Gatlinburg/ Pidgeon forge many times in the 70s and early 80s and not been in a long long time, and my wife surprised me the other day with a 12th Anniversary gift vacation to Sevierville Tn in a Mountain Cabin in March. I am so excited I too like the Log Cabin Pancake House and some of the places you mentioned nice to know they are still there This will be the first time for my wife So I will get that first time look thru her eyes Very exciting Thanks again for your Post
My family and me go to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge 2 times a year. We absolutely loveit. I talked to a lady the other day and she said they went to the beach last year, and she wished that they went to Gatlinburg instead. We always rent a cabin at Christmas time, and our son and his wife fly in from Japan and we spend 5 days there. The cabins, use different ones, have been wonderful and we have such a wonderful time. I cook breakfast in while all is sleeping and they get up bragging of the aroma of the food going thru the cabin. Said they can even smell it upstairs. I would suggest Black Bear Jamboree, Smith Family Show, all of them are good. I haven't found anything that I haven't enjoyed. Worth the trip from WV and do not have enough time to do all the things we like to do.
Have been going to Gatlinburg all my life am now 58 yrs old. This past year deceided to buy a cabin there and I now wonder why it took so long. I would also suggest you take the trip accross the mountains to north carolina. In Gatlinburg there is the motor nature trail it will take about an hour to go a few miles well worth the trip. Also if looking for a cabin mine is at heartland rentals name is the call of the wild.
I live just about an hour away from Gatlinburg and I have to say it's one place that never gets old. It's breath-taking and a magical place for all ages. Highly recommend the trip!
I just got married this year in Gatlinburg my husband and I just loved it! Could'nt ask for a more Spiritual Place. We plan on going back. Can't get enough of the beautiful mountains and people.
