For more than 40 years, Mary Lou Toly and her family have been serving great pizza and friendly smiles at Red Banjo Pizza in Park City. Mary Lou started the business in June of 1962 as a bar called Red Banjo Saloon. The name changed in 1974 and now stands as the oldest business on Main Street. Mary Lou co-owns the local favorite with son Scott Toby Toly and three generations of family currently work there. The building was originally constructed in 1900 and the décor is a welcoming cross between an old west saloon and the modern pizza house it actually is. A huge antique mirror dominates the space behind the bar and an old-fashioned piano occupies the back wall. Red Banjo also doubles as a gallery for the interesting and entertaining napkin art that has accumulated over the years. The dining area is usually abuzz with the chatter of resident teens and Park City families. This charming restaurant has a long history of being a gathering place for local Italian immigrants and the embracing warmth of camaraderie lingers and invites folks to come in, relax and enjoy a meal. Red Banjo’s brick oven bakes wonderful pizzas dripping with cheese. The crisp but chewy crust is an ideal canvas for fresh, tasty toppings. The Red Banjo also offers fiery jalapeño poppers and fabulous cheesy bread sticks. To wash down your meal, they offer soda and beer on tap.
