TRIP TO SHALALA
As part of my hobby, I selected Shalala, a historic place and to learn about the topography of that state. As I have already visited to different “GCC” compared to other GCC, Shalala is a historical as well as a tourist area .Shalala is a part of Oman but entirely different from other states because of its topography .I gained different experience and knowledge from the guide and resources.
First I tried to travel by car but due to circumstances could not make it as we need two driver to drive 1680 km to drive from Dubai to Shalala .Of course it is a challenge to drive the car through strange and calm area .We boarded to Hatta port but we were not aware that profession drivers are not allowed to get Oman visa (they can only get by sponsor’s approved letter through Oman embassy not by border )so we returned back unhappily , we changed our plan (which is “B” plan, I always keep A&B after I got training from my boss it was useful over here) and decided to travel through bus, we straight away drove to Deira Oman bus transport office (near Clock tower ) and book the ticket for next day .Everyday bus is there from Dubai to Shalala at 3 :00 p.m which is more comfortable and reasonable price under Oman government also by private .
On Friday we started the journey at 3 :00 p .m ,the bus time very accurate and they won’t wait for the passenger and around 06 a.m. we reached in Shalala
Some of the FAQ is below which my help your journey(if you have any plan).
1. How can we reach Shalala from Dubai?
a. By Air:-Flights are available from Dubai to Shalala in reasonable price(800-900AEDfor return ticket), and1hour 20 minutes is the journeys time
b. By car (self driving) minimum 2 drivers are required which you need to drive 1680 km very carefully. The road is very strange after the city both area is dessert and very difficult to find people for any assistance .Signage board is available on road side in roundabout and the main junction. After the city most of the area is a two way road and difficult to drive in the night due to the opposite vehicles lights flickering. Also petrol stations and there is a way a lot of place for relaxing available near to the city which is providing 24 hours service. These are the roads(Cities) you should pass when you’re traveling
Alain buraimi Sohar Khabura Sur Fahud Marmul Nizwa Ibri Firq Salahla.
c. By Bus:-Public transportation buses and Private buses are available everyday at 7.a.m. &3.p.m.from Deira (near clock tower)180 AED for return ticket (price per person) single ticket price is 110.AED below 12 years they will charge half price. You have to book your ticket in advance and reserve your seat in advance to avoid last minute surprises (I didn’t see any seat number on the ticket and following first is first)
2 How to get a Visa??
a. You can stamp your visa in border port hardly 10 minutes will take for processing some of the category (according to visa profession) visa is not available (Driver/ cook/ sales man-etc...) they may get visa from Oman embassy after approval letter presenting from sponsor
b. You can stamp your visa from Oman embassy in advance
c. Oman Visa charge 50 AED for each person (passport) the money accepting through credit card only. (you can use any card)
d. If you are exiting from Buraimi you have to pay 35 AED –per person for exit fee. If you are exiting from Hatta no exit fee-(due to that most of them people selecting this route and port office highly facilities with new technology and very quick visa process.)
