Civil War Sites & DC

Leave Linthicum, MD at 9am arrive at Antietam at 10:30 am. Must try the ice cream at the Nutter's Ice Cream Shop in Sharpsburg (nice afternoon break).

Make sure to visit the Pry House Field Hospital Museum. Hours are 11 am to 5 pm. This can be done after lunch and allow about an hour's rest period if needed.

The visitor's center shows a 30 minute file every half hour except for 12 noon and 12:30pm. There is a new 1 hour documentary shown only a noon each day.
The park is open dawn to dusk but the visitors center is open 8:30 am to 5pm.

Gettysburg National Battlefield is open from 6am to 10pm daily.
The Visitors Center is open from 8am to 5 pm.
The Cyclorama Center is open from 9am to 5 pm daily.

This is an actual house that was taken over by the Confederates during the Gettysburg battle. There is a 30 minute tour of the house. This will allow for about an hour rest period after lunch.

This takes about two hours to tour the house and grounds. If this is done after lunch it will allow a nice break period in the afternoon.

Leave Manassas at 7 pm arrive at Fredericksburg, VA at 8 pm.

This includes four battlefields. Fredericksburg has an auto/tape tour which takes 3 hours. Chancellorsville has an auto/tape tour that takes 3 hours. Wilderness and Spotslyvania has a combined auto/tape tour that takes 3.5 hours. Wed we can do Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville. On Thurs. we can do Wilderness

We will do approximately the first half of this tour on Saturday evening and finish the tour on Sunday morning.
