This is going to be an interesting trip. My first few days will be in Germany. I will fly into Frankfurt, spend the night, then take a train to Stuttgart. I plan on checking into my hotel (where I will be for the week, thanks to some work I am doing on site until Thursday). I plan on seeing a bit of Stuttgart, and enjoying the annual wine festival! After work wraps up on the 13th, I will pick up a rental car the next morning and head northwest- to Belgium and on to Northern France. My plans are to see some of the battle sites that have interested me since I started studying history. My primary objectives are Waterloo, Agincourt, Omaha Beach, and a few days exploring the Somme region. I have decided to take it easy, exploring at my leisure. My wife Sharyn will not be joining me on this trip, but she has given me many excellent ideas. For instance- instead of booking hotels ahead of schedule, I am going to attempt finding Pensions in the villages where I am visiting. We did this in our trip to Spain last year, and had quite a bit of success.
