http://www.sunsetcities.com/Red-Rock-Can…The other way to get there is more efficient if you are departing from the far south end of Las Vegas, from Henderson , or you want to go to Blue Diamond first.
From Las Vegas, drive south on any of the major streets such as Decatur Blvd. and Rainbow Blvd., or drive south on Interstate 15. These will take you to Highway 160, better known locally as Blue Diamond Road. When you get to Blue Diamond Road, turn west. When you get the Blue Diamond cut-off, (Highway 159), turn north. The intersection is well marked and you should keep your eye out for it after about 10 to 15 miles, depending on where you started from. This route used to be adventurous in the sense that you were definitely out of the city. Since 2000 the area in the south part of the Las Vegas Valley has grown tremendously and this stretch of highway is quite busy and becoming 'sub'-urbanized almost up to the Red Rock turnoff. It is nice to have a gas station and convenience store at the cutoff however as there are only limited facilities in Blue Diamond.
