This is our little 4-day get-away in Freeport.
Some tips given to me so far are:
Don't give handouts to the beggars
Stay away from the wooden stands selling things on the side of the road, they are usually selling drugs inside of the statues and wares they are supposedly selling.
Don't go to remote places on a scooter, stay in the populated areas.
Make sure to take taxis with the yellow license plates. NEVER accept rides from people trying to do you a favor.

We're allowed to take 2 pieces of luggage that will be put into storage, and 1 carry on item that we can keep with us in our cabin. Our cabin has two twin beds, a bathroom and a shower.

My wife and I rode a scooter out 30 miles to the National park. It was deserted, but we never had any trouble. I don't see a problem in the daylight; at night I wouldn't do it of course. In Nassau, we also followed an older gentlemen to his house. He saw us walking the beach and asked if we were looking for conch shells. He let us use his private beach, where we found a great shell. I think anywhere you have to be careful and judge who you're dealing with. But overall this place is generally pretty safe.
