OK, technically, this place is in Orange Beach, not Gulf Shores, but anyways...my immediate and extended family has vacationed at Seaside Beach and Racquet Club for YEARS, ever since I was a kid. I highly recommend it, and personally have no interest in ever staying anywhere else. It's right on the boardwalk, they have tennis courts, and a nice pool.

This place is an absolute hole-in-the-wall, but like most holes-in-the-wall, it's a good place to be. They're well-known for their fried seafood baskets, and more importantly, their FRIED CHEESECAKE!

If you go here, you HAVE to order the Ribs 'n' Reds meal. It's out-of-this-world delicious, and very unique to Gulf Shores. For dessert, try some key lime pie or bread pudding (if they still have it on the menu).

If you're going to be in Pensacola, I recommend you stop at a nearby gas station or drugstore and pick up a bottle of Dr. Cheng's jellyfish sting solution (I think it's called Dr. Cheng's...I don't quite remember...it's an Asian name, but it's been a while since I used the stuff. Nevertheless, it can be a big relief if you get stung by jellyfish, which you probably will). If you can't find it, you can probably stop by Wal-Mart or a souvenir shop on the beach and pick up sunscreen that also protects against jellyfish stings.

My uncle and 11-year-old cousin LOVE this place, and if you're looking for something cool to do with the kids that's specific to the Gulf Coast, this is a great place to go. I wouldn't recommend it above the USS Alabama, but you might want to try it out. Then go for a great lunch or dinner at The Crab Trap!
