Long Weekend in DC

Great hotel, but a bit noisy during the day. The president was here on Friday morning, so all the exits were blocked, which made getting to our exercise a bit tricky. The pastry stand has good prices though, and the gift shop is well stocked. The bed is wonderful!

I can see this out my hotel room window at the JW Marriott. It's really pretty at night. Probably won't have a chance to go up, but wish I could!

I wasn't impressed - too cluttered, and not enough of a bargin for me!

The food was fairly good, but a bit overpriced for my taste.

The BEST cheeseburger I've ever had. Period. And, the oldest saloon in DC.

Didn't take the tour, but did go by the back side for a few photos.

A neat enough building, but not much to see unless you take the tower tour (which we didn't).

We didn't get to spend more than about 10 minutes in the museum, but we did enjoy the fountain in the sculpture garden. A great spot to relax and get your feet wet!

This was really neat to see - the temporary exhibit called "From School House to White House" was interesting, and gave us a chance to see some of our former presidents as children. And of course, the Magna Carta, Bill of Rights, Constitution, and Declaration were all great to see as well. It made me very sad to see the Declaration, because it is so faded - but you can see a hand print in the bottom left corner that lends a bit of mystery to the document.

Another first - my first Irish food experience. Had Harp beer - great beer, and something I plan to buy once I get home. Also had Bangers and Mash, which was outstanding. Since we were there on Saturday night, it was a little rowdy, but that just made it more fun.

My first Chinatown experience - less than exciting. Although, we did go at night, so it may be better during the day. But, it's very different from the rest of DC - very dirty, and just not as nice.
