I went to Montego Bay two years ago. I loved it. It was the second time I had been to Jamaica, and it was just as beautiful as I remembered. I did some mission work while I was there. We have so much in the US, and people are miserable. In Jamaica, they have almost nothing, but they are so happy and friendly. I love to go down and help people out. Sangster International Airport Montego Bay, Jamaica
Notes
Not to be confused with the Margaritaville above (why are there two spellings. This is in the Sangster Airport in Montego Bay, the other is on the 'Hip Strip.' I wasn't to happy with this one, they lost my order, then said that I never ordered to begin with and that I had just walked in and said I had ordered. I did get some food, but only after more than an hour of arguing.
Fun place. The food was pretty good, nothing spectacular, nothing bad, but it's the atmosphere that they are going for anyway. I had the escovitch fish, which really freaked everyone else out because it came with it's head and tail still attached. Didn't bother me, I'd eaten fish like that before in Israel. Waterslide into the ocean, hot tub (sounds weird in the heat, but was actually nice), giant trampoline in the ocean. Great place. guys we are from australia and going on our honeymoon in march 09 and need some help when choosing between ocho rios and montego bay. we are only stopping by as part of the cruise ship but can someone tell me which place has the better beaches as we plan on doing water sports and we want nice clear water.,
Spent a week in Jamaica in November 2007 at the Starfish Trelawny, it was awesome. All inclusive but they have another 4 resturaunts besides the buffet that you can eat at for an addition fee (like $10 / $15 per person. We at breakfast at the buffet and lunch at the cafe by the pool it is just steps from the beach. The food was great at all of them, the entertainment committee was great, rooms were nice a little date but clean and bug free. They kept your glass full at all times the Rum Punch is great. They give you a complete bar in your room stocked with 5 bottles of liquor over and above you can stop at bars all over the resort for drinks soda liquor whatever you desire. The cafe by the pool is great for lunch. I can't wait to go back. We had a blast. Prices were reasonable also.
I have vacationed in Jamaica twice. On my first visit I stayed at Breezes Runnaway Bay, Jamaica. The resort was nice and the rooms were nice. I went up town and walked on the strip. I like there prices on jewery and perfumes. The second time I stayed at Sunset Beach not a very high standard resort. I did not like the buffet, the meals could have been better.
I just got back from Sandals Royal Carribean in Montego Bay, it really wasn't what I expected, the resort to be like, considering that it was a Sandal's Resort. The beach was too small, only one bar was open at a time, and they didn't serve buffet every nice. And the drinks that were served was watered down. The staff was somewhat friendly, everything seemed to die down at 8.00 pm. This is my seventh trip to Jamica, and this was by far the most boring resort that I have been to. I guess I'll stay with the Hedonism resorts, they know how to treat a guest.
