2007 Japan Summer Adventure

After a 14-hour nonstop flight from the US, arrive in Narita International Airport at 4:20pm to meet my friend! I'll be holding signs!

To get to Oak Hotel using JR pass, take Narita Express to Tokyo Station. At Tokyo Station, take the JR Yamanote Line to Ueno Station. More directions on hotel's site.

The Hotel is a one minute walk from Inaricho station on the Ginza subway line and 10 minutes from JR Ueno and Keisei Ueno Station.
The Tsukuji fish market and Akihabara are a quick 20 minute train ride from the hotel.
From Ueno station, the Imperial palace is a 10-20 minutes train ride away.

On the train to Kyoto, sit on the right side to see Mt. Fuji. It will pass around 40 to 45 minutes after leaving Tokyo at Shin-Fuji Station.

Note: Hikari is faster than Kodama but slower than Nozomi, which is not covered by the Japan Rail Pass.

Hours: Most shops are open from 9:00 to 18:00 and close on either Wednesday or Sunday.

Access: "Nishiki market is in central Kyoto, one block north of Shijo Street west of Gion and the Kamogawa River. The closest subway station is Karasuma. If you come by bus, get off at Shijo-karasuma, Shijo-takakura, or Shijo-kawaramachi.

The Nishiki Market street runs parallel to Shijo Avenue, one block north of Shijo Avenue. It can be reached on foot in less than 5 minutes from Shijo Station on the Karasuma Subway Line (4 minutes, 200 Yen from Kyoto Station) and Karasuma or Kawaramachi Stations on the Hankyu Line."
