Enter the crater from the East side so make sure to get off on that side and walk into the crater through the tunnels. Just follow the roads/tunnels into the crater.

Catch the number 22 bus from Waikiki, it runs down Kuhio Avenue. For information on routes and timetables call TheBus at (808) 848-5555.

Buses 5 and 6 go to Manoa. I think 5 goes really close to the trail and 6 is a maybe 15 minute walk to the trail. It starts at or near the Ala Moana Shopping Center, which is a big mall that a lot of buses stop at. One of the buses might be at the north end of the mall or a block north of the mall itself. Manoa is a residential area that isn't too bad to walk through. If
you take the 5 bus, get off when it turns around to go back and then keep walking North (I don't think there are any signs right away so it isn't obvious you are going the right way until you've walked for a little while). If you take the 6 bus (which I only recommend if you would have to wait like half an hour longer for the 5 bus), you have to walk west after getting off somewhere when it makes the loop and do some navigating (this is what we did).

Bus Transportation from Waikiki
From Waikiki, take bus 8, 19, 20, 47, or 58 to Ala Moana Shopping Center. These busses run every 8 to 10 minutes.

From Ala Moana, transfer to bus 52 "Wahiawa-Circle Island" and get off at Dole Plantation. The bus ride takes approximately an hour and forty-five minutes.
