The easiest and quickest way to get to Rishikesh from Delhi is definately the early morning speedy train from Delhi, called the "Shatabdi Express"..This type `of train service is offered to many destinations around North India, for example, Delhi-Jaipur..You get a nice cozy chair seat..Price,hmmm, i forget exactly-but it will be LESS then renting a car and driver..The Shatabdi servie is a bit more expensive then other train services, relatively speaking, but it gets the job done quickly and painlessly. The journey by train would be about 4-1/2 hours, getting you there about11a.m, as the Shatabdi lives early morn......If ya take a car and driver, this would add a few hours to the journey, 2-3 hours extra.......(6-7 hours)....
train number 2017, new delhi - dehradun shatabdi express
departs new delhi at 07:00, arrives haridwar at 11:22.
costs Rs460 in air-conditioned chair car.
from haridwar there are regular buses departing for the one hour journey to rishikesh.
Enjoy Mate
