For food and drinks look down side streets.Far cheaper than on the tourist routes. Eat lunches or light dinners at the bars. Sandwiches and pizza are much less expensive and just as good. Use the underground metro to get quickly and safely around the city. Much cheaper and faster than a taxi. Recommend the "limo" service to and from the airport- long walk from baggage claim to the Termini station and then cramped local tax ride from the "termini" to the hotel. Hotel can arrange if you contact in advance.

The via Del Corso shopping area is two blocks from the hotel

Make sure you request a room with a view. Do not eat at the restaurant adjacent to the hotel; not the one with the canopy, but the one run by a Chinese family. The food is horrible.

If arriving by train and have more than a carry-on size bag, pay the money for the water taxi - 50 Euros from the train station. It will drop you at Ca Formenta’s private dock. If you take the Vaporetta aka "water bus" to the hotel, you will encounter crowds and limited baggage area, plus 2-3 bridges from the "bus stop" to the hotel. If taking a Vaporetta, the Hotel is at the Arsenale stop. The vaporetto is about a third the cost of a water taxi. Four touring Venice, take the 42 vaporetto. It’ll go through the entire length of the Grand Canal. Ater touring at make sue to take Vaporetto #1-and do it later at night, around 11pm. Travel Cards allow unlimited travel by Waterbus and Land in Venice. Included in the price is the transport of one luggage.Can be purchased from the Hellovenezia ticket desks and the authorized resellers. A 24-HOUR TRAVELCARD is 15 Euros. Their is great food and prices if you leave the St Marco area and visit some of the squares down the alleyways. Don’t be afraid to explore the side streets and make sure to stop in the churches for some great art!
