When are you going to hokkaido? I lived in sapporo for many years. I've been to many onsen in sapporo and noboribetsu area. Recommending an onsen would depend on if your using it for day use or a weekend? what style you want? small traditional? big hotel style? outdoor nature? kid friendly?
I could recommend lots of things if you want about where to go and what to see. Is this your first trip? Odori park is a must see, and going up the TV tower gives you a nice view. The olympic skijump has a skilift you can ride to the top for a lovely viewpoint at the observation deck.(i took my 63 yr old mom there two years ago and she loved it up there!) Don't miss the hyaku-en shop, the japanese equivilant of the dollar store. Hokkaido's largest shrine is interesting. Nopporo forest park with its monument and gardens is nice too. There is also an art park with sculptures from artists around the world. Otaru is a train ride away and is famous for it's glass and music box shops. I highly recommend the historical village, and the natural history museum with the ainu exhibit is fascinating.i've been to the maruyama zoo, aquarium...all kinds of activities for various ages groups over 15 years. i'd be happy to help with ideas and pictures if you like too. just let me know =) genkide ne~ take care
I am planning for a 5-day driving trip in Hokkaido (sapporo). Sounds like strawberrytart06 can suggest my route for these 5 days. We are a couple for a honeymoon trip. So not too busy schedule with some nice sightseeing and some good food will fit us. Appreciate if you could suggest something for us....since we want to drive on our own, maybe we need to move to different hotels. But making use i can have one day stay in sapporo for shopping :P
