taking my girlfriend on her first visit to hawaii. i've been there a couple times, but it was always with family to visit grandparents who live on the north shore. this time i plan to hit up most of the toursity spots and some of the lesser known spots. the yahoo travel guide doesn't have too many 'things to do' outside of the honolulu area (or simply mislabels many places as being in honolulu with bad directions), so i have added a lot of custom locations from other parts of the island.

after finally finishing sorting everything out, it looks like we're going to be pretty busy!!! i'll probably have to pick and choose which things to skip if we get carried away in one place and fall behind schedule. besides, how can you set a schedule while on vacation!?

Thanks for sharing this! My family is going on a big family vacation to Oahu in July/Aug 2007 for 2 weeks, most have not been to Hawaii ever, while myself I hadn't been there since 1991...Thanks for all the tips! I wasn't able to view your pics, but CONGRATS on your engagement!

oh, when I said big family vacation, I meant 20 of us going and renting a big house on the beach...

Thanks for these tips. My big family of 27 will hold our reunion in Honolulu. Where is Aloha Stadium where you mentioned they hold the swap meet? Is this open everyday or only Sunday?

Interesting run down that you have shared with us. We are
heading to Maui this September.It's been perhaps 30 years
since my last visit. Will just be looking for good food;
comfortable living and lots of relaxing. If not to much
traffic,just driving the island is interesting. A little
different now that we are in our 80's.
Thanks for your info,

aloha stadium is in the town of aiea, which isn't too far from honolulu. it's pretty close to pearl harbor. it's open saturdays, sundays, and wednesdays. and i believe it's $1 a person to get in.
