The laneways of Melbourne hold some great shopping, even better cafes, and accessible history. Definately worth a wander. I found a great free pod tour Free Pod Tour of Melbourne’s Laneways and this really added to my experience. Do a search for talk-n-tours podcast and you will find it.

Melbourne is just great... Victoria Station is a marvel and should be explored. We walked through out this wonderful city and saw sights and sounds ... that were an excellent blending of life and culture... If you are there make sure you visit Lygdon Street... it is filled with live music and bistros...
