Wow I am from Up North here in Wisconsin and we have a place here in Wisconsin very similar to PF/Gatlinburg called the Dells. And both are great places and love em. I must say you give us Northerners a bad name with your stuck up snotty attitude. Just a note to everyone, not everyone from up North is like this- but it sounds like your from the northwest so I can see where you get your attitude from. I think southerners are nice simple living folks and its nice to get away from the rush of the big city and enjoy the slower pace of life (especially on vacation). I agree with everyone else, it would probably be best not to come back and take your money and attitude and go back to the northwest or go on a cruise or to Italy or Disney World. A simple family fun place like Gatlinburg isnt for you obviously.
we were in Gatlinburg/PigeonForge in November for our 30th anniversary and we had a wonderful time. Did not have a chance to see dollywood , that will be our next trip. Some of the shows were not worth seeing, but overall it was a fun time. We stayed in a rental unit and it was great. We traveled 9 hrs to get there and it was worth it for the beaurty of the mountains to the weather, etc... You have to do your homework before traveling anywhere, so you are not wasting precious time deciding on what to do, when and where.
We look forward to coming back next year, maybe with family this time.
I have visited the "mountains" quite a few times. In fact, grew up in Kentucky, so I guess I can be classified as a hillbilly. I have lived in Jacksonville, Florida for the last 27 years and I still miss Tennessee and Kentucky. The people there are the friendliest people I have ever met and in fact, I have a friend from North Carolina and he is not the least bit "snooty"....I'm with the person that said you should have researched your "honeymoon" site....
You have to be kidding me! I went to Gatlinburg with my ex-wife and still have fond memories of the place. By the way my ex makes everything misreable. Gatlinburg has it all. Can it be extremely crowded? Sure it can but if you look into the National Park and what it has to offer you can find many romantic out of the way places to go where there are no people. There is also a ton of shopping available as well as entertainment. I'm sorry you did not enjoy your trip but calling people rednecks is a little uncalled for. I don't think much of you but thank your husband for serving this great counrty and its many rednecks for me. By the way I live hundreds of miles away from TN so I am not a local.
Sorry, I didn't like your report at all because of your obvious superior attitude. It seems like you're more for putting down the people and the area, rather than trying to share a trip. I've been to Gatlinburg several times, and it is a beautiful and fun trip- and the southern atmosphere is both charming and welcoming! I love the Smoky Mountains (yes, they are mountains)- the fact that they are different from others I've seen (Rockies) just makes them more interesting and unique. It would sure be boring if all the places to take a trip weren't so different from one another. Good luck in your travels- hope you have more enjoyable trips elsewhere.
I visited Gatlinburg for family Reunions. We all fell in love with the place! I actually want to live in Tennessee now. Everyone is very friendly, and the Mountains were absolutly beautiful.i think the very Dangerous roads adds to the excitement of your cabin being up in the mountains. LOVE it!
We went in July of 2008 and our whole family had a great time. To me it was a very positive "All American" type experience. If you're tired of Disney-sanitized attractions this is for you. Very down to Earth and all the people we met were helpful and friendly. Dollywood was great (that is coming from a person who's been to Disney dozens of times)and shouldn't be missed. Their focus on god and country was welcome and refreshing.
THE SOUTH IS THE BACK BONE OF THIS COUNTY , ITS WHERE MOST OF THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES CAME FROM . CIVIL WAR WAS FOUGHT IN THE SOUTH .MORE PRESIDENTS COME FORM THE SOUTH THAN ANY OTHER STATE . WE ARE THE MOTHER AND FATHER OF THis great country. I could go on and on about the south , check out the history books and all sould be proud .
Wow! Your handsome husband really got the short end of the stick when he married you! I read every last comment before checking out the pics and then I saw your face and OMG you are FUGLY!! Oh and where did you get that cheesy wife beater shirt at? Funny thing...I've never been to the smokies but I am sooooo dying to go so I can beat up sh*theads like you that have no room to talk.
We look forward to coming back next year, maybe with family this time.
