Calastoga is a cute little town with lots to do and see. I would steer you away from staying at Christopher's Inn. I've stayed pretty much everywhere in that town and love love loved it all except Christophers Inn. Try the Depot Deli and store. It's in the old railroad cars on the edge of town. Ask for the Ho Ho on steriods. The mopst delicious treat in the world. We have made special trips from Auburn just for those....Yummy!
We ended up having a wonderful time! We ended up staying at the Calistoga Inn and had exceptional service from Judy and the B&B dog Frankie. On Friday they had a local winery come in for tasting and we had wine and cheeses everyday at 5. Judy also had several coupons for free tastings and restaurants. She also knew of some of the best wineries to visit. I would greatly recommend Goosecross, Bennett, Reynolds (they took us on a small tour of the winery where we got to taste from the barrels and actually eat grapes from the field), Regasci,Monticello, Pina, and Casa Nuestra. For the Sonoma Valley, I would highly recommend Imagery. They had a different take on combining the grapes. They also had different artist renderings for each label. It was just worth the trip to view their winery.
To get the taste of Calistoga, you need to eat at the Calisto Inn. We also had a taste for Mexican one night and had the best food that I can remember from the Mexican restaurant across the street from the Calisto Inn(Highly recommend the margaritas!). The Flat Iron Grill was also exceptionally good. We stayed at the Mark Hopkins in San Fran and could not ask for a more beautiful hotel. The Top of the Mark was breathtaking. This was the restaurant/bar at the top of Mark Hopkins where it was completely glassed in to where you could see the entire city.
If you need more information on Calisto and Napa Valley, just let me know. It's a wonderful trip and you will have a great time no matter what!
I'm planning a honeymoon with the same kind of trip. My soon-to-be wife and I are going to fly into San Fran, then drive up to calistoga for 3 days and then spend 3-4 days back in San Fran. Do you have any tips about Calistoga? We were looking at staying at the Indian Spring Spa or Mount View Spa and then travel around to wineries and such
We are planning our anniversary trip and after viewing several, these are some of the things we are going to try and visit. We would like any suggestions since we have never visited San Francisco or Napa Valley.
