I lived in Cambria for about 6 years. It is one of my favorite places. Very mystical and unique. Worth a trip to Cambia and stay a week to fully appreciate all it has to offer. Everyone I refer Cambria to are delighted when they take the trip. Most people do not know where Cambria, CA is. It is a best kept secret. Great places to stay, food and wine.
Just got back from a long weekend in Cambria- loved every minute of it. Of course we went to the Hearst castle, and enjoyed that... but we also really enjoyed Nitwit Ridge. What a quirky and fun place to visit- can't imagine putting together the whole house with junk from the garbages. A must see in my book. Also we went over to San Luis Obispo on Thursday night for the Farmer's market- What a great time we had. We bought all kinds of fresh fruits and veggies and the BBQ was to die for. If you are in the area on Thursday it is also a must attend. The sunsets were gorgous and the town was quaint and friendly. Picked up moonstones on moonstone beach! It was my first time there but it cetrianly will not be my last.
I really enjoyed reading about your trip. Wow, I would love to find a moonstone. When we visited Cambria earlier this summer, it was the first I had heard of them. Everyone in town had a different story to tell and none of them coincided. We searched and searched, but no luck. We are back home now, but I still wonder, where were they? Were and what times did you find them? Thanks, Julie
I always find my moonstones while walking on Moonstone Beach. They are the litte white stones (when polished they are more translucent). There is also beach jade to hunt for too. Little green stones. At the bead shop in the West Village she has moonstone and beach jade beads. I made a bracelet with then last Novemember. Happy Beach Combing!
If you want peace and quite spend some time here. Anyone know how to get a tour for the lighthouses in the area? Linn's rest at the villege is great but their farm was a disappointment. Nice drive but no tour just a small shop with items you can pick up in town. if you really want to drive drive up Hwy 1 and take a picture of this country's highest priced gas up the road.
