Scotland the land of my forfathers and after visiting I can see some of the reasons why they left.... It rains about 280 days a year, there is no flouride in the water (hence the beautiful Scotish smile), and the Scots are consumed by their blood (ie money) they like to make it and take it from you. Everything is so, excuse the pun, "bloody expensive".....anyway the green on the rolling hills will dazzle your senses and they do know how to pour a good pint of beer. I think pubs were invented on rainy days.....Top of the mornin to ya mate ....bottoms up & SCOTLAND FOREVER !!!
I was interested reading about Scotland as my dad's parents came from Aberdeen. I never had the privilege of visiting Scotland though. From the above accounts, the only places visited were shops, eateries, hotels and bars!! Not my cup of tea. I would like to have visited cathedrals and gardens and churches and meeting local people. Do Scotch people love gardening a much as the English? I would love to have visited the moors, seen the heather, bracken, wild life and wild birds. Since I was born and raised in England, (now retired and living in Hawaii), I miss hearing the songs of skylarks, blackbirds, thrushes and robins (yes, I am a "bird person!"). I think my paternal grandparents were from the Black Hills in the Aberdeen area. It would have been interesting to have researched family history there. I am now 81 years old, so am not able to travel too well. Thank you for reading my thoughts! Margaret H.
Look to these journeys for it is an adventure The very life of the realities and verities of existence, The bliss of growth,The splendor of action, The glory of homeward bound-
For yesterday is but a dream, And tomorrow is only a vision, But today, well lived, Makes every yesterday a dream of happiness And every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look to this day For it is life The lives of Scotland, In its brief course lie Edinburgh.
