Hi, I am very happy with this view because we poor people never get a chance to reach Washington D.C. but I get a chance to see this place by mail. I wish If god give a chance then I will get a chance to reach there. Thank you
Thanks so much for sharing your Washington, DC trip. We are planning (I am planning the family trip) for April vacation. Would you recommend a train ride from FL or fly? Did you rent a car when there or just took cabs and walked/ Thanks again for the information
Mary Gallegos asked: Where did you put your belongings prior to the White House tour, since they are so strict about taking in even a handbag? Are there lockers near by?
The answer is that we left our things in our hotel room and took only our metro cards and drivers licenses with us. Then we immediately returned to the hotel, changed clothes into something more comfortable and went to the zoo. (We had dressed a bit nicer out of respect for the history/importance of the White House.) I'd looked into lockers but couldn't locate any. At one time there were lockers available for rent at Union Station but I believe they were closed after 9/11 and besides, Union Station is nowhere near the White House so it was just more convenient to return to the hotel. This is one of the main reasons I scheduled the trip to the zoo for that afternoon too... It's in Georgetown so returning to the hotel didn't feel as much like wasted time as it would have if we'd wanted to do more sightseeing in DC. -- I hope you enjoy your trip!
Your info was very helpful. We plan on going next June. We will be staying in Va. Where did you put your belongings prior to the White House tour, since they are so strict about taking in even a handbag? Are there lockers near by? Any way, thanks for the great pixs and chronicles...
Sounds like an amazing trip. I wouldn't know where to begin to plan such a journey. But now I know someone to ask ;) So cool to reap knowledge from your travels & experiences! Thanks for taking time to chronicle! -Lisa AHFH"LOST", SL"blessdmommy" & fellow COC (and now fellow Librarythinger)
We had a great time! The weather was wonderful even if a bit cool the first few days. We walked A LOT but that was fine... we took the Metro everywhere... it's clean and easy to use. The location of the Fairfield couldn't have been more perfect!
