I lived in Vancouver for 1 yr. Did alot of sightseeing on the weekends. Such a beautiful area. Took a long drive back to states thru the Canadian Rockies-incredible!

I'm ending my Alaska cruise in Vancouver and would like to sightsee there and in Victoria before flying back to Portland but not sure how to get to Victoria from Vancouver. I wonder if I should rent a car in Vancouver and drive it to Victoria and return it to Vancouver and then fly home from there. Not sure how far it is from Vancouver to Victoria

Hi Cheri; You have to take a ferry to Victoria from Vancouver (unfortunately) It costs you 75 dollars including your car and passengers. There are two ferry terminals from Vancouver to Victoria. One will leave you at Nanaimo and another one is to Victoria center. I don't know where you will end up in Vancouver. You can take ferry from Vancouver to Victoria and there are couple hotels which are not too far from the ferry terminals (based on my last research for my trip) Victoria is not big city so you can do sightseeeing on foot if you like to walk. For me, it will take a day to walk around. You can take a tour bus to the famous Butchart Gardens, and the hotel will have a shuttle to give you a ride to airport. That is my opinion if you want to save your money.
