Sorry, I haven't been on here for awhile so I might be too late to answer any of your questions. No, I haven't been out that way during the summer months. I am sure it can be stifling. San Francisco is a great city and I never felt uncomfortable walking anywhere. I have been back since and love it. Try a Kara's cupcake in Ghirardelli Square....Awesome!!
We're leaving Kansas City to head to Yosemite, Sequoia, Golden Gate Bridge, and Napa Valley....on motorcycles. Have you been out that way at this time of year before? I'm sure the heat will be rough at Death Valley and I'm dreading that. Any areas of SF we should avoid? Thanks for sharing your trip with us!
You don't really need a 4x4. We just like the extra room but all the roads we traveled were paved. Monument Valley roads were rough but not impassable with a car.
Your pictures were all great, a few were absolutely stunning. Me and my 18 year old are going from Texas to Grand Canyon and short side to Monument Valley this November.
How great the trip was. I'm from Indonesia. We had almost the same itinerary with yours in the 1st - 9th day. it's a amazing trip. We did it twice. By reading your travel, we really want to it again, but maybe start from Denver, go to Salt Lake City, Wyoming...etc.. Thanks for all the photos that reminds us the uniqe & the beautiful scene of America... One of the best place that we visited was Lake Powell... it's amazing place, not far from Monument Valley. Don't miss it.
I would suggest starting your trip at the Desert Watch Tower and then continuing west. We entered the park around 10:00 am at the lesser known entrance and felt like we had the overlooks to ourself. We had a great lunch at the Bright Angel Lodge also. I would have loved to have hiked while we were there but we just didn't have time. I hope this helps! Have a great trip!
We're heading out there in August and these pix make me even more psyched!! Thanks!
