A trip from July 18, 2007 to July 25, 2007, travelling to Paris

It looks as if it is going to be amazingly beautiful weather for my first ever stay in Paris. 70-80 daytime highs and 50-60 lows. Just perfect. I have been warned about the pickpockets and been given some tips on how to avoid having things stolen. I'm sure I would be a great target as I look extremely innocent and naive. Hopefully, that won't happen and I will just be able to enjoy Paris in all its glory. I have been trying to learn some French so that I can at least try to speak to the locals. We'll see how that goes. Fortunately my friend is fluent in French and will be able to help me out a lot. She's my personal tour guide. We're going to have so much fun!!! Au Revoir!
what a nice diary of a incredible trip! your story made up my day and encouraged me to buy that ticket I got booked yesterday. I will go there, alone, but it doesn't matter because of all the things I'll see. You rock girl! wooohooo!!! Paris, here I go!!!

Why criticise the French?
Americans are proud of The U.S.A.. Our confidence, principles and ideology make our nation great. We are proud!
Americans expect international visitors to speak English.
How can we get offended if French nationals prefer visitors to speak French?
I understand they appreciate our efforts to learn a little French. A few phrases show good faith.
If we expect the priviledge of courtious visitors, isn't it fair to extend that same courtasy to others?
Anyway - Thanks so much for giving us a peek of your journey to romantic Paris!
