Your Trip journal was very informative and interesting, Thank you!
My husband and I are going to Switzerland in April (easter weekend) for 5 days.
We have booked our hotels for Zurich (1st night) - Interlaken (3 nights) - Geneva (last night)
We are reaching Zurich on a thursday night, spend the night at Zurich Day 1: leave for Mt. Titlis and see the town Lucerne, then head back to the B&B in Interlaken Day 2: Jungfraujoch and Interlaken city and some shopping Day 3: Grindelwald and an hour trek to Bachalpsee Lake and later that day Bern Day 4: Check out from our Interlaken B&B-take the Golden pass train from Interlaken to Montreux spend some time there and- take the Boat cruise from Montreux to Geneva-check in our hotel in Geneva Day 5: Walk around in Geneva
Questions: *we have questions from our day 4- can we take the Golden Pass train from Interlaken to Montreux (we have seen on various travel sites that the Golden pass train are from Montreux to Interlaken and not the other way round) *are there boat cruises from Montreux to Geneva? * very important question- we are getting the 4 day pass which will be valid from day 1 to day 4 which means on day 5 we wont be having that pass.. Is there a way you can get Geneva One day pass since we will be in town..walking around etc, or do we not need to travel by trains-buses.. is it all walkable? * is the golden pass train included in the 4 day pass?
Take the famous train ride from Montreux to Sweissemann. It's an unforgetable ride! It goes through Gstadd and a bunch of other villages on the way thru the Alps. It's 'around' 2 hours each way... I believe the they call it the "Goldpath" train? You can't miss it as the entire train cars are window's, ceiling and all...
I am planning to go there in March after I visit Barcelona. I am going to book a spot to skydive in Interlaken. Do you know of any "Do Not Miss" places around there? I have a week to spend in Switzerland where I ultimately will have to go to Zurich where my flight home leaves from. thanks
spending your winter holiday in geneva, switerland for skiing and setting beside the fireplace drinking hot beverages looking through the window you see the mountain all covered with snow it's a very nice place so you can spend all your winter vacation in switerland skiing and relaxed
I'm heading over there in May ~ 2008. Just reading everything about what to see in Switzerland & where to stay. I'm spending a week with an old friend, then I'll be off on my own exploring. Looking for some B & B's there.. Enjoyed what I read on your bog. tks.
hi vkb13922, I've never been to leysin but I think it's better to stay in Geneva. I personally find Montreux and Vevey rather boring. The views from Leysin are probably very nice though. You might want to note the cogwheel train timings to and fro your lodging at leysin.
i am planning a visit / stay for a week at leysin in lake geneva region in october end. I need some help for planning trips from their to all "do not miss" places . Is leysin ok???I have already booked the resort on some recommendation but a review by actual visitor of the place is something special.
