One marathon, three countries, three languages, three currencies … More
One marathon, three countries, three languages, three currencies, and no guides!!!
Derek and I decided one cold, dark day in December 2006 that we would take our first extended trip together to a location neither of us had been to but one that we had always wanted to explore. We also figured that the timing was too perfect not to register for and complete our first marathon together in Stockholm. One of the highest rated marathons in the world. So off we go!
Couple of small points: Latvia achieved re-independence in 1991. I am in Old Riga on a frequent basis and wonder if maybe you just saw it through the filter of a hot and miserable day. Seems to me that most people that I meet there are well dressed (in European stylin'!) and many even smile. We do have political problems here, but I don't think that they people are all that oppressed. Old Riga isn't all there is to Riga. Did you go to the Occupation Museum, the War Museum or the Folk Art Museum? Lots to do in Riga. And a question- what is a small city to you? Riga boasts a population of around 850,000.
Congrats, Jennerek! What an adventure. Love the pics, esp the one that you took just for me. And, Taneen, I'll be happy to take your serving of reindeer, and go back for thirds. *grynn*
I want that camera!!! But I'll pass on the Reindeer meat thank you! Love the marathon outfits. You know how to really show our American fashion don't you... : ) Glad you had fun - and that you took us all along for the ride --- welcome home!
You are both rock stars and you make a coach proud!! You took on a marathon adventure that was well beyond the training elements I cold have ever prepared you for and you came through with style (aka cool shades) and grace! Kudos... Coach T!
i hope to see people unite !
Stayed at the baltic beach hotel for 120 US
But skip Latvia if you havent been to Estonia-its not worth the trip. Dirt and about a third higher prices for everything.
Congrats to both of you...I now DEMAND that you do nothing but drink and get massages for the remainder of the trip....enjoy
P.S. loved the viking hairstyles, too. :)
