I filed my tax returns today (with today being the operative word and only two hours old). I'm getting back around $850.00 which is a huge relief. I was actually somewhat worried if I'd be able to afford this trip at all.
It's too late to back out of course since I've already bought the plane ticket and I would be guaranteed to have at least 600 pounds or so from the paycheck I'm getting the second day I'm in England (the joys of direct deposit) but that still figures out to only about 50 pounds per day. With train pass already paid for (or at least will be paid for shortly) and hostel only about 20, that's not that hard to survive on, but the more money the less problems (despite the old B.I.G. song) I foresee.
I highly recommend e-filing. In fact, probably more than I recommend spending your entire tax return (plus quite a bit more) on a trip to Europe.
Three weeks and one day until my plane leaves O'Hare. Plenty of time for some overtime at work to pay for this thing. ;)
