Once we made it on the plane (which wasn't easy), our Kenya Airways flight to Nairobi was a breeze. Our plane had an unexpected (to us) stop in Karthoum, Sudan to refuel. Once we landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport we waited about 60 minutes for our bags and then departed for Martin and Carey's place in Nairobi. The drive probably took between 60 and 90 minutes during rush hour. Apparently Nairobi (and Kenya for that matter) have very few major roads, so everyone is on them.
Soon after we arrived at Martin and Carey's, we rushed off with Martin to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust elephant orphanage. There may be nothing cuter than baby elephants - except orphaned baby elephants! After an hour with the "ellies" we had lunch at the Karen-Blixon teahouse and then went back to the compound for a few hours of rest.
