Jamaica Here We Come!!!

A trip from June 24, 2007 to June 29, 2007, travelling to Montego Bay, Negril, Ocho Rios

My husband and our 2 children, ages 7 and 3 1/2, are going on this trip with MY side of the family. There are 16 of us ranging in age from 65 to 18 months. My travel agent recomended the Sunset Beach Resort and Spa due to it being family orientated and 3 beaches. I love my family, but with 4 of my sisters going, I am glad it is a large resort. My husband and I have been all over the Caribbean, but this is the first time for Jamaica.

New Journal Entry

My husband, 7yr old and 3 1/2 yr old, went with my side on the family from 7/24-7/29.  We arrived at 12pm Jamaican time, so our rooms weren't ready yet.  No problem, we went to get some lunch and then went to the waterpark until 3pm.  The rooms are outdated (cracks here and there) but NICE and CLEAN.  We were in tower B second floor and really had no problem with noise.  You could hear people in the hallways at night returning to their rooms, but they weren't loud.

Now for the food.  We ate at the buffet most of the time and could always find something to eat.  They had Jamaican food which was fun to try.  The grill was fast food, the Jerk chicken was wonderful!!  We did eat at the Italian restaurant which was Great.  My husband had lamb chops!  I has a pasta dish with dried tomatoes, yummy!  My kids had spaghetti, and they loved it.  Remember you are in Jamaica, there is no Filet Mignon!  The drinks were good, not watered down unless you let the ice melt.  I loved the Mid Day Coolers, yummy!

The resort, Beautiful!  I always saw the staff picking up.  Beaches were a little rockey due to shells, but this did not bother us one bit!  The water was so warm, and calm.  My children loved the beach!

The waterpark was fun for the kids ans adults.  There are 2 water slides, and a lazy river.  If you lay down on the water slide, you go pretty fast.  If you sit up, you may get stuck.  It was fun anyways.

This is a 3 star family resort.  Great for families!!!!!  There is not much of a night life, so I do not recommend this hotel for people looking for night life at the resort.  We had a wonderful experience and would go back to this hotel.  Jamaica what we saw of it was beautiful and the people that we met were nice.

We paid about $3200 for a family of 4 leaving out of BWI.  We went through Liberty travel and transfers were included.  Our parasailing was $60 for adult, $30 for child.  The catamaran tour was about $40 a person.

Talk about this trip (10)
We paided around $3200 for a family of 4 for 6 days 5 nights. We are flying Air jamaica round trip out of BWI. All the little day trips are a separate expense. We loved this resort! It was nothing fancy, more so family orientated. We did do little day trips to get us off the resort and to see Jamaica, which were GREAT! I recommend the Sunset Beach Resort and Spa and would go back in a heart beat!

I'm planning a surprise trip 4 the hubs to Jamaica. I'm booking thru Apple vacations I thought the price was pretty reasonable which is 860.00 for the both of us All Inclusive. I would like sum feedback from you if you have travel with this company before. The hotel of choice for us the Iberostar, which is the newest to the location.

Jamiaca is a lovely place. You must not just stay on the property of the resorts but go out and enjoy the culture of the country, mix with the locals, try local food from the regular food outlets. Dunn's river,Blue lagoon (Port Antonio) and the beaches in Negril are must see spots.
