Carnival in Salvador, we bought tickets to join the blocos "Balada". Basically what happens when you buy a ticket is you get a special shirt called a camarote which is your actual ticket, this shirt allows you to get inside the rope surrounding the band which is on top of a truck with huge speakers. Inside the rope is a bunch of other people who bought the camarote and just follow along with the band and dance for hours until the end of the parade. It was quite a fun experience as you are actually a part of the parade. On the outside of the ropes are a lot of people who didn't buy the camarote and are dancing along the parade route as each of the blocos comes by and from the looks of it they were having as much fun as the people inside the ropes.
I got some nice pictures of Salvador at night from the hotel room.
This is the light in our hotel room at the Hotel Vila Romana which was a very nice hotel located just two blocks from the beach and from the Parade route. We couldnt have asked for a better hotel.

I adore Brazil and have a vested interest as I am a samba musician.
I am however struggling to find reasonably priced internal flights to Recife. If anyone can help...?
