I haved been to the Houston are. I fell in love with the city. The culture is unreal. The people are so nice. If there are any sports fan out there. Go to an Astros game at Minute Maid park. Or if you aren't in to Baseball. Take a tour of the Astrodome. and stop next door at Reliant Stadium. Or you can go to the Astro World Amusement Park. I recommend it.

We left Houston for Florida for better work opportunities at the time, but my daughter who has asthma almost died there. We moved back to Houston and it's been 22 years ago and she's fine. You will find the pros and the cons in Houston, just like other cities, but Houston has been home for me for almost 30 years now. There is no real true paradise on earth until you go to paradise in the next life. Enjoy where you live and let me enjoy Houston.

We have lived in Houston a lifetime. I recently had open heart surgery in our world renowned Medical Center. My husband passed the time by riding the Metro Rail and visiting the many museums and the zoo. He also went downtown to an Astro game and shopped in the undergroung mall. In football season you can go the other direction on the rail and see a Texan game. The Rockets also play downdown. The perfect city for sports and culture alike. And only 50 miles from the beach in Galveston or plenty of nearby lakes and rivers. Come visit us or stay with us awhile and enjoy our Southern Hospitalty.

Bubastes, Cat Goddes... (View Bubastes, Cat Goddes...'s trips)
I've been living in Houston since December 2006 and I love it. There is half the humidity than where I used to live, which is so nice. When it's 90 degrees outside and the humidity is only 57%, it feels very pleasant to me. We used to live in Coastal Mississippi, where it is always 100% humidity and even 85 degrees feels like 104 degrees. And there was never any breeze there.
We usually have a nice breeze here in Houston and I love being 67 miles away from the Gulf of Mexico.
I wouldn't be happy living anywhere else. I tell folks, I'm a Texan by Choice, not by birth.

Well that's kind of odd. I have horrible allergies and since I moved to Houston (from Roanoke, VA) 2 years ago, I haven't had any problems with allergies whatsoever. I love the city, although the crime does seem to be a little bad, but it's a metropolitan city and you can't really complain about crime if you move to a big city. From what I understand, the Houston Police Department has doubled its size since Hurricane Katrina when so many people fled to Houston and decided to stay here. I go to the University of Houston and can almost spit on the downtown skyline from here. I love the culture and love how spread out it is (that's a catch 22 though because you spend more time on the roads and use more gas than a tighter metro-city). Traffic is horrible and there is always construction going on, but again that's something you get with a big city. Just understand that if you need to be somewhere across the city, give yourself at least an hour to get there.

I have never been to Houston but want to know what the comparison to Phoenix or how is it compared to Phoenix pros and cons? I have been in Arizona for 22 years im from Chicago but am a little tired of Arizona cities both Phoenix and Tucson. If anyone has any comments and has lived in both cities let me know! I want to know the difference please
