Diving West Caicos and Providenciales

Situated some 575 miles southeast of Miami USA, lie the ‘Beautiful by Nature’ Turks and Caicos Islands. This Caribbean archipelago is made up of over 40 islands and cays of which eight are inhabited.

The name ‘Turks’, is derived from the indigenous Turks Head cactus, while, ‘Caicos’ is derived from the Lucayan term ‘caya hico’ meaning ‘string of islands’. Although the islands were originally thought to have been discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492 there are still those who believe that Juan Ponce de Leon discovered the islands.

The Turks and Caicos Islands has the third largest coral reef system in the world and some of the best tropical beaches in the Caribbean.
