Well.....what was originally forecast to be 29.5 hours ended up becoming 31.5 hours with a few delays thrown in.....and yes those extra 2 hours felt like 20 hours!!!
Qantas really was the way to fly - no complaints from us, and being able use the Qantas lounges was great.
We had a smooth transition through customs and imigration at LA and then an even easier exit at JFK in NY. The cabbie was easy to talk to and didn't try any of the so called shenanigans that some people write about.
Also it wasn't as cold as we thought it might have been - more like a crisp Perth autumn night - it was really quite refreshing after being stuck on the plane for so long.
We've just had a great meal at a little Italian Cafe across the road, called Viand. We forgot how big the servings are here in the States!!
We then snuck across the road and picked up a six-pack of beer and then back across to the other side of the road to a liquor store to pick up wine!! A couple of bottles from Margret River - ahhh the cape Mentelle SSB - which is way cheaper here in NY than Oz!
Weird that you can buy beer everywhere except where i bought the wine!!
Then Starbucks for a "Venti Quatro Latte"(everyone who's had a coffee with me will know!)
Sitting back in great room at the Milburn Hotel - highly recommended - updating this page. Be cool everyone and staye tuned -same Bat channel, same Bat time - for further updates.....
Rick & Ruth
Hi everyone, Elli here,
I'm having a great time in NY. I just lost my loose tooth here in NY and I think I might get a visit from the New York Tooth Fairy.
I can't wait to go to Dylan's Candy Bar tommorow.
Love Elli
Keep up the posts.
Ruthie wouldn't let me take a pic....something about me harrasing people and getting arrested.....whatever Trevor!!
Got a pic of Ethan Hawke though, but he turned away as soon as he saw the camera!
Cheers, RICK
See you guys soon!
Enjoy the routine of being home. I'll bet it is nice to get back to your own bed.
Be in touch.
