Day 1
Saturday 2nd December 2006
Hubby and I drove to Stratford Upon Avon at 10AM on Saturday Morning. We took the scenic route. We arrived at Stratford-Upon-Avon at 11:30 AM. The trip took 43 miles. We checked into the Broadlands Guest House at noon. We then took a leisurely walk down to Rother Street up to Henley Street where we had lunch at Druckers. We had a ham and cheese panini, two cokes, a fruit scone and an éclair. After lunch we decided to visit The Birthplace…childhood home of William Shakespeare, located opposite Druckers. After this we strolled along Bridge Street and High Street. We went into several shops to browse and buy a few souvenirs. Later that Evening we went to do some Brass Rubbings. This was fun! I did a brass rubbing of Saint George and the Dragon and Alex did a Brass Rubbing of William Shakespeare. Then it was back to our Guest House to relax and dress for the Theatre.
We had tickets to see the Stratford-Operatic Society perform West Side Story at the Courtyard Theatre. The play was awesome! We sat in the front row of the stalls in front of the stage. We really enjoyed the play. After the performance we went to McDonalds in Bridge Street and had a meal.
