Going to Phuket was rather a last minute decision. After spending quite an amount of time on the hotel searching, finally decided on Kamala Bay Garden Resort from Latestays.com which offers very attractive price. Bht1999 for a 1 bedroom Junior Suite per night is CHEAP!
The day has come, our flight is 0710 and we had to wake up at 0430....zzz. The kids were so excited that they did not make a fuss of getting up so early! We reached Phuket at before 0800 and before went out of the airport, we managed to book 2 day tours from the tour desk in the airport. Luckily I had done some homework on the pricing, otherwise sure get "kotok" (slashed) by them. Whatever tour they quoted was at least 200-300Bht higher. We booked the Angel Sea Cruise to Phi Phi islands & the 6-in-1 Siam Safari tour.
We drove to the Phuket town, since it was too early for check-in. Roam around the market area and head straight to Resort at about 1130. No problem in checking-in. Welcome drinks were served at the reception. The boys were so impatient as they can't wait to jump into the pool already. No lift, but I don't mind since is only on the 3rd storey. The porter led us to the room....then I realised we made a good choice....the room is awesome! Great for families with kids, spacious, equiped with cooking facilities. Now let's check out the pool! Great pool, wading pool, children pool, adult pool, pool-slide, water-polo & more than enough sun-bed for sun-bath! Food quality is just average. In the night, there are even a mini night bazaar in the hotel itself!
Phi phi islands tour was the best! We did snorkelling at Maya beach with fishes swimming around us. Luckily I brought the floats & goggles for the boys as the tour did not have the snorkelling gear for young children. We visited the Monkey beach as well & my elder son got scratched by a monkey. Then we had a simple buffet unch in the hotel. There are some free time for us to roam around the island. By the time we reached our resort, was already 6pm in the evening! After washed up, we went to an Authentic Swiss Restaurant for dinner at Kamala. Their Rosti was delicious and sausages too!
The 6-in-1 Siam safari tour was good too. We were being picked up by a 4x4 safari jeep. The boys were so excited in travelling in a jeep. The journey is quite bumpy and the distance was quite long. Not sure how long, but seems never reached. Perhaps everyone was too anxious to get there! Finally we reached the site and was brought to the elephant trekking pickup point. 1st time on an elephant's back, all of us were very excited. Is rather shakey when the elephant moves, thus must hold real tight! The elephant shows is the most memorable one, as I was "molested" by a baby elephant! ....but I enjoyed it! ha ha Then we were taken to see the rubber tapping process & canoeing. It was a good experience for my boys.
In the same night, we went to the Phuket Fantasea Show. We did not join the dinner as the tour agent do not recommend. The place was well lit up and there's alot of activities to keep you busy before the show started. They even have elephant rides! The exterior of the theatre was magnificant! The interior too! However, I feel that the show is rather messy as I think they tried to squeeze in as many as they could. However, overall rating is 8/10.
One more thing to add, we visited this seafood hawker stall for 2 nights! Fresh & cheap seafood, stall's attendant/boss are very friendly. Their stalls is at the 2nd street from the street along the beach.
Phuket is a nice place to go with families, and even young kids! White sandy beaches & clear blue seawater. I'll definitely visit Phuket again....with my little princess Kaelyn.
