We've been talking about a trip to Europe for some time. Chris has been to Spain, Malta, and Portugal while on port stops during deployment. We had talked about the trip for sometime and narrowed our choices down to a week in Rome or Paris. In the end, my heart chose Paris.
Originally we wanted to take the trip either in spring or early summer. But spring break from school wasn't long enough and Chris has military training this summer that could wreck havoc on plans. We thought if we waited until next year, we probably wouldn't have the money to go. So December in Paris it is!
We started our morning off at 4am. We checked bags (the Coninental counter was atriocious! No organization whatsoever, only 4 semi-working machines to get a very long line of customers checked in, and the lady in charge had no clue and offered no help.) Then we exchanged money and settled in for our long journey.
The flight to Newark went smoothly and relatively quickly. The movie playing was "Talladega Nights" - so for the rest of the trip we had all those French jokes in our head. After getting dinner (and a funnel cake!), we boarded our flight to Paris.
