Welcome to Limestone

Life up here is so laid back up here. Time flys when you're doing nothing. Sometimes we get to go out on trips, after we get back from picking my boy up from the bus stop. We ALWAYS see new creatures, like Wooly Bear Catterpilars and Deer. It's close to hunting season, so there's nothing but a few skunks and chipmunks outside. My dad curses at the chipmunks and blames them for most of the world's environmental disasters, lol. He's mad at them because the baby chipmunks chewed a wire and nested in his siding. They squeek in the woods when mom squeeks for them, so they still must be alive out there.

Education-

They dont have any online classes up here, lol. The lady in the testing center said, "Wow, you must be smart!" I didnt say anything about that, lol. I just told her, "You'd figure between the snow limiting traffic and all of the math students, online classes would be really popular." She told me that a lot of the kids take snail-mail classes or send things through e-mail, but they dont really have any online classes. Job?! I told my dad that starting online classes up here would be money in the bank.

Critters-

We saw a few Wooly Bear caterpillars in the driveway. My dad picked them up and I pet them, but Austin was afraid of it, lol. My dad calls them "wooly willows". They have bristley black hair and a really light brown/orangeish stripe in the middle. The myth is that the thickness of the stripe can predict how cold the winter will be (thicker = colder). It's cute. http://www.denrose.com/woolleybear.html is a link to their pictures and information. They're kind of cute...for a bug.

Blue Potato Myth-

I still havent seen a moose though. Dad says it's "900lbs of meat on a moose and thats after you cut it down", lol. Would you eat a moose? I would try it. A lot of people "stretch the truth" around here...expecially when they dont know much about it. For example, the frostbitten potatoes that Austin had were Blue Potatoes:

Mom and I are going to eat them, lol.

Festival-

There's a Harvest Festival next Friday. I dont know what it is, but I'd like to go, lol. Mom says, "We're not stump-jumpers, we're concrete-knockers" Ha! Either way, it spells hillbilly to me. It's pretty out here and I'm having a great time, learning about what I see and relaxing, while chasing my son around.
