Napa Valley
Napa Valley
On Saturday night we had not finalized the plan to go to Napa on Sunday. We got up quite late, but then decided it would be nice to visit the Napa Valley. I made a picnic lunch. Mom had hurt her hand last Thursday. She still made chutni sandwiches for breakfast for all of us. We got quite late in leaving from home, we left at around 12.30pm.
The drive to Napa was nice. We saw a few wineries on SR 29 on our way to Domain Chandon. We reached Napa at around 2pm. As it was lunch time, first we had lunch in a park and then started our Napa sightseeing.
Domaine Chandon
The winery was quite nice. We saw the wine tasting room, which was quite packed. They have a patch with different types of grapes and at different ages. We looked around a little. We saw the stone mushroom patch. Papa got a picture with a stretch limosine.
Silverado Trail
From there we drove to the Silverado Trail. It's a beautiful single lane road lined with wineries on both sides. The wineries just keep coming up one after the other. It was a beautiful drive.
Pine Ridge Winery
We stopped over at Pine Ridge winery to get a closer look at how the grapes are harvested. We took a lot of pictures in the field.
Domaine Carneros
From there we drove to Domaine Carnerros. This is the second largest winery in California. They have a beautiful chateau like building at the top of a hill. From there we could see the valley full of fields. The view was beautiful.
Then we started our drive back to home. Papa, Mummy and I were quite sleepy and all of us dozed off. Amit kept driving while all of us were enjoying our nap. We hit a little bit of traffic around 880. But it was not too bad.
It was a nice day trip to Napa Valley.
