Art Tour

Mineral Point was the first city in Wisconsin to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places -- more than 500 of its structures are considered significant. Standing on the west end of the historic business district gives a downward sloping view of the vast number of buildings of varying architectural styles that make Mineral Point worth a long weekend's trip.

Brewery Creek Inn

ImageImageImageThe Brewery Creek Inn was a great little bed & breakfast housed on the top floor of a working brewery/restaurant. The room was very cozy and spacious. The fireplace was a great addition considering the weather during the weekend of my visit was cold and rainy.

Talk about this trip (1)
This southwestern corner of Wisconsin is superlative! Gorgeous sweeping landcapes dotted with grazing dairy cows, small towns with gingerbread homes that sometimes have a room open to the public with antiques, art/crafts, and/or tea rooms. The Red Rooster Café serves hearty, homestyle food. Mineral Point is a mecca for artists, craftsmen (potters, weavers, glass artisans), and writers. Buy cheese (some factories give tours), stroll free (or make a donation) through Dickeyville Grotto, and do not miss House on the Rock (allow at the very least 2 hours) with its Infinity Room. I haven't stayed at any hotels in this area (other than in the Dells/Baraboo area) as we would do this as a day trip or weekend trip from Iowa. Storybook Gardens is still in the Dells... something for all ages & interests.
