An in-depth 10-day trip to London. A trip that takes your breathe away (seriously) and your leg muscles as well. Lots of walking involved, but it was all good.

Departure @ SFO

Image

San Francisco International Airport  We arrived at SFO three hours before our flight to allow time for security check. The security was strict. Our carry-on items were checked the second time at the gate before boarding.  Our BA flight departed SFO around 5:20 p.m.  It was delayed for 30 minutes because two passengers did not get on the plane and their luggage had to be off loaded. The air got really stuffy inside the plane since they couldn't turn the AC on full blast until take off.

@Sara Rox! - Hi! Wish that Yahoo would send me an email when someone leaves a message here. Taking the Underground, aka the Tube, around London is really easy. Avoid traveling on the Tube during rush hours if you can. Be prepared to walk A LOT when you go to London. It’s also a good idea to plan ahead of time about where you want to go and know the subway station nearby your destination/attraction. Good luck with your trip and have fun!

Was it difficult to figure out the public transportation system and navigate around town? I am going and that is my biggest concern. I have never been out of the states and I don't want to waste any time. You switched hotels half way through your trip..seemed like a brilliant idea. Maybe a hotel in one area of London, and then another hotel in a different area? Let me know your thoughts on getting around London! Any help is super appreciated!! Thanks!

dhenchik 2 - personally, the must-see places in London would be Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, British Museum, St. Paul Cathedral and the London Eye. You will probably spend a lot of time in Tower of London and British Museum because there is so much to see. Get a 3-day travelcard and take the Underground to go to places. I think the travelcard is valid on buses too.

Hi I am going to Paris and London for 3 days each. Can you comment on what are the must see areas in London. I see that you had a nice trip but how long does it take to see the most important not to miss kind of places. If you could please list me would be helpful. Also what means of transportation within the city of london is convenient and economical?
