We've arrived to Newark in the afternoon, but the completion of picking up the rental car frm Avis, we were finally on the road by abt. 3 pm. While we are on HW87, we have faced with our first travel jam in the US, we have moved abt. 10 miles (as per GPS) in 1 hour on a 4 lane highway. Anyway, all the waiting have got us very hungry, and we've stopped at a rest stop by the highway. It is a mini mall, with 3-4 franchaised food and/or beverage chain, with 2-3 newspaper, souveneir shops. The food was a huge disappointment, fat, dry burgers that gave us all heart burn. Anyway, we have luckily bump into a super nice and experienced visitor info. representative, whom gave us more than 1 kg of maps/magazines/coupons for the surrounding area. From these more in depth advertisement, we've decided that we will drive towards Lake George in Adrondack park for the night. We have arrived to Lake George abt. 6pm. There was still light, and we've drove around the town center and the lake side area. We've chosen an economic motel for the night in the middle of the town. We've had dinner at the locals called "Best Italien Restaurant" in the town. The restaurant from the outside look like a good establishment, full house at the time of our arrival, and not looking so tourist tramp. However, may be because we are from Europe, our taste and standard is simply too different, the restaurant turn out to be disastrous. Pasta was not cooked in salt water, slightly soggy, the tomato sauce has no tomato taste nor herbal taste, worst than coming out frm a canned sauce. This meal had caused us to shy away from many Italian restaurant during our trip. We've walked around town to digest our meal, went to a supermarkt for purchase of water and fruits. And went back to our motel to enjoy our 70 channels satelite TV, a satisfation for my TV zapping boyfriend :) .
